This week’s big theatre news includes …

New Musical Announced for London Premiere

The hit musical The Bridges of Madison County is to have it’s UK premiere this July at The Menier Chocolate Factory. The musical, written by Jason Robert Brown and Marsha Norman will be directed by Trevor Nunn.

After winning two Tony Awards in 2014, I am sure that this will be a hit in London.

Bianca Del Rio and Faye Tozer open in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

From 6th July, new cast members joined in the fun at Everybody’s talking About Jamie and it looks like the audiences are loving them already. Steps and Strictly Come Dancing Star Faye Tozer is now playing the role of Miss Hedge whilst Winner of season 6 of Rupaul’s Drag Race Roy Haylock/Bianca Del Rio is taking on the roles of Hugo/Loco Chanelle.

Hairspray is Back!

With the news that Hairspray will soon be heading back out on the road, it was also announced that the show will be running for a limited season at The London Coliseum starring Micheal Ball as Edna Turnblad.

Looks like a lot of fun but the tickets sure are pricey

Casting announced for the UK and International tour of The Book of Mormon

Heading out on the road for the first time, the touring production of The Book of Mormon will open in June in Manchester, being led by Kevin Clay as Elder Price and Conner Peirson as Elder Cunningham. Both have played those roles in the states. Nicole-Lily Baisden will play Nabulungi whilst William Hawksworth plays Elder McKinley, Ewen Cummins as Mafala Hatimbi, Johnathan Tweedie was Joseph Smith plus Thomas Vernal will play the General.

Completing the company is Sanchia Amber Clarke, Jed Berry, David Brewis, Melissa Brown Taylor, Chinasa, Tre Copeland-Williams, George Crawford, Jordan Lee Davis, Jemal Felix, Patrick George, Isaac Hesketh, M-Jae Cleopatra Isaac, Evan James, Alex James-Hatten, Nicole Louise, Fergal McGoff, Jesus Reyes Ortiz, Lawrence Rowe, Lukin Simmonds, Chomba S Taulo, Brad Veitch, Tommy Wade-Smith, Sharon Wattis and Jacob Yarlett.

Casting Announced for Big  The Musical

Joining the already announced Jay McGuiness in Big the musical, playing for a limited season at the Dominion Theatre later this year, will be Kimberley Walsh as Susan, Wendi Peters as Mrs Baskin and Matthew Kelly as George Macmillan.

  1. I really enjoyed the Hairspray movie, so I think I would really love to see it in the theatre. I have seen Oliver in the theatre, years ago but it was really good! I think I need to see another show sometime soon.
